Discoverer requires a Web browser that supports JavaScript 1.2. This
includes Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x and higher and Netscape Navigator
3.x and higher. If your Web browser does not support JavaScript,
the Discoverer Web pages will not function, and Discoverer will not load.
Oracle JInitiator Configuration
Discoverer requires that you use Oracle JInitiator. If you installed
JInitiator, and Discoverer does not work properly, configure JInitiator.
To configure JInitiator:

From the Windows Start menu, choose Programs and then
choose Oracle JInitiator Control Panel. The Oracle JInitiator
Properties dialog appears.
- Click the Basic tab.
- Put a check mark next to Enable JInitiator.
- Make sure Show Java Console is unchecked.
- Set your cache size in the Java Run Time Parameters
field. Enter "-mx64m -Dcache.size=20000000" to specify a cache
of 20 megabytes, for example. Note: Discoverer requires at least
14 megabytes of cache space.
- Click the Apply button.

Close the Oracle JInitiator Properties dialog and
try using Discoverer again.
Using Microsoft Internet Explorer browser with Discoverer
To use Discoverer with Microsoft Internet Explorer, you must have Internet
Explorer version 4.72.3110.8 or later. If you have the correct version
of Internet Explorer, you are ready to use Discoverer. If you do not have
the correct version, upgrade to the most current version of Internet Explorer.
Microsoft provides free upgrades of Internet Explorer from their website.
Note: Print this web page so that the instructions below are
easier to follow.
To find the version number of Internet Explorer:

From the Internet Explorer Help menu, choose
About Internet Explorer.

In the About Internet Explorer window, look for the
word "Version".

If the version number is 4.72.3110.8 or later, you are ready
to start using Discoverer.

If you have a version earlier than 4.72.3110.8, see below
to upgrade Internet Explorer."
To upgrade your version of Internet Explorer:

Go to the Microsoft web site at
http://www.microsoft.com.
- On the Microsoft web site, search for a Downloads link.

Download the latest version of Internet Explorer for your
version of Windows.
- Follow Microsoft's on-screen installation instructions.

When you finish installing Internet Explorer, launch the new
version and return to the Discoverer home page.
Note: If you have trouble downloading or installing Internet
Explorer, contact your Discoverer administrator.
Other items to check if Discoverer is not connecting
In general
- Clear your Web browser's memory cache.
- Make sure you wait long enough for Discoverer to load.

Make sure you have the correct version of JInitiator,

Be sure you properly install JInitiator.

Be sure you click "YES" on the security certificates. If you are
not sure, go back to the Start
page and try the process again, making sure to click "YES" on the certificates.

Check that you have enough disk space available on your temporary drive.
You will be prompted to make a certain amount of temporary disk space available
if there isn't enough. If you already did this, then go to the Disk
Error Page to get some tips on making more disk space available.

Some unknown error occurred; please try the setup again by
clicking here.
